Hundreds and hundreds of Africans and friends of Africa flooded in to the Ashok International Center Sat. Nov. 3rd to experience the 3rd Annual MISS AFRICA USA SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT. The Pageant was the toughest ever, with 17 beauties who made it to the finals all ready to claim the thrown as Queen. With a tight delegation of high profile judges, the producion was superb, flowing smoothly without any incidents. Having gone thru all categories of competition, the top 5 were selected and interviewed before the judges finally decided who should wear the prestigious crown AS MISS AFRICA USA 2007-2008.
The New Queen Miss Nigeria Mfonobong Essiet is an embodiment of beauty, culture, poise, intelligence and most of all she has a heart of Gold. Congratulations to all delegates who joined the pageant this year, you all represented with pride and dignity!!!!!!
WHO IS MFONOBONG ESSIET?
Raised in Nigeria, Ms. Mfonobong Essiet is an energetic and multifaceted 21 year-old Barry University graduate student in the Biomedical Sciences Program, pursuing a future career in cardiac surgery. She produces several community events for promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and Youth Education in the United States and abroad, while serving as the Program Director for The Miami Children Foundation, Inc. She serves as a Runway Model for M.A.& C.,
Founder & Director of Myztique Modelz, Miss Black & Gold (Tau Delta) '05-'06, Miss Sankofa '05-'06 , Director of the Golden Stars Dance Squad, and has held leadership positions in numerous organizations, which enabled her to
return to Nigeria as school staff, and also plan a successful seminar.
Her humanitarian spirit led her to produce several HIV/AIDS Awareness Fashion Shows, where she amazed the audience with her clothing designs of Action Against HIV/AIDS, while spreading knowledge about prevention and the impact in our modern society. Ms. Essiet's passion for spreading awareness stems from her love of the medical field and sense of community. She lives by the fact that we must reclaim our past, so that we can move forward, understanding how and why we came to be who we are today.
Miss Mfonobong an experienced humanitarian is ready to take on her responsibilities as Miss Africa USA 2007 -2008 to make a difference in the lives of the needy especially children, she is ready to carry forward the mission and vision of the MISS AFRICA USA PAGEANT.
