Irish rock star and anti-poverty campaigner, Bob Geldof, will attend an exclusive Air Miles event in Dubai on November 21 raising awareness and support for the needy in Africa.  Air Miles will donate all the proceeds of the event to the international charity ‘All As One’ - which has a children’s centre, school and medical clinic in Sierra Leone.

All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the centre care for it’s children as well as obtaining land to build a new children’s village in All As One’s ‘Building A Future’ project.

The Air Miles sponsored event themed ‘An Evening for Africa with Sir Bob Geldof’, to be held at the Habtoor Grand, includes a reception featuring entertainment by Dubai Drums, followed by a sit-down dinner at which paintings by children from the centre autographed by Geldof and other memorabilia will be auctioned.

“Since we began our Middle East operations, Air Miles has always been keen on supporting excellent causes such as All As One,” said Air Miles’ Middle East CEO, Dave Battiston.

“It is a privilege to be associated and involved with the ‘An evening for Africa with Bob Geldof’ event and together with the support of our partners and members we look forward to making a sizeable contribution to help provide a permanent home and better life to the children of Sierra Leone.”

All As One is an international non-profit organisation registered in Sierra Leone and has offices in the UAE’s International Humanitarian City and the United States.

“We are delighted that Air Miles and the sponsors of the ‘An Evening for Africa with Bob Geldof’ have so generously pledged the evening’s proceeds to All As One,” said Matthew Morgan-Jones, UAE Country Director for All As One. “This kind of donation could not have come at a more critical time, as the centre has lost its lease and needs to secure new premises.”

“This project will ensure we more than double the amount of children in our care and more importantly deal with social issues such as education and health. Through education and a chance for a brighter future we can change the lives for generations.  This event will truly be saving hundreds of lives.”

Morgan-Jones will make a brief presentation about All As One and its activities in Sierra Leone at the Event.

To round up, Geldof, founder of the Live 8 and Live Aid concerts, will talk about his life and times in Africa and talk about his ongoing struggle to ‘make poverty history’.

During the event, Geldof will urge crowds to embrace initiatives such as ‘All As One’ to “change the condition of the most beaten-down people on this planet.”

‘An Evening for Africa with Sir Bob Geldof’ is a one-off private corporate dinner organised by the Transguard Group.
