Sierra Leone - Back in business

Sierra Leone is indeed a nation back in business. The conflict that tore the country apart  in the 90's is now a thing of the past. In its place we now have peace and stability. Sierra Leone has positioned itself has a prime investment destination.

The successful Sierra Leone International Investment Forum held in March 2006 in Freetown is a testimony of this fact. The event provided a valuable opportunity for public and private sector figures to network and discuss trade and investment opportunities and allowed the Country to showcase itself as a nation fully recovered.

H.E., the President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah rightly pointed out, “This conference is proof that our journey has not just begun, but that we are well down the road”.

The Investment Forum provided business, ministerial and government leaders with proof that this is a nation entering into a new era. One with immense investment potential and endowed with a wide variety of untapped resources and opportunities which will allow business to flourish. The public and private sector were able to see for themselves that Sierra Leone is no longer the dangerous, war torn country it once was.

In keeping with the spirit of the Investment Forum, Sierra Eye is starting a series of articles and short documentaries over the coming months highlighting various investment opportunities in Sierra Leone.

The following topics will be covered:

- Polical situation

- The Investment Promotion Act

- Sierra Leone Export Development and Investment Corporation "SLEDIC"

- Sierra Leone's competitive advantage

- Areas of investment

- Incentives for investment in Sierra Leone
