China gives Sierra Leone U.S. $2.5 million grant for projects

President Hu Jintao of the Peoples Republic of China Friday announced a grant of two million five hundered thousand dollars for various projects to be agreed upon by both Sierra Leone and China.He made this disclosure when he formally met President Alhaji Dr. Ahmed Tejan Kabbah at the Great Hall in Beijing, China.

The Chinese president who was pleased to welcome President Kabbah at the Sino-African summit is, looking forward to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.He told president Kabbah that the Thirty-Fifth Anniversary of the Diplomatic ties between China and Sierra Leone was celebrated in China in grand style. President Jintao noted that China will never forget Sierra Leone’s support for the one China Policy.

In response to the Chinese government’s generosity, President Kabbah expressed hope that China will continue to support Sierra Leone. He called on Sierra Leoneans to encourage Chinese investors in energy and the mineral sectors as well as joint partnership in local entrepreneurs.

President Kabbah also met a cross section of the Sierra Leone community at the Great Hall in Beijing during which they apprised him of their concerns and immediate needs.
