SLDC completes first diamond sale from alluvial operations

At an open tender held in Antwerp, Belgium, just over 3,000 carats  of rough diamonds from Sierra Leone Diamond Company Limited’s alluvial operations in the Kono district of Sierra Leone achieved a price of US$375 per carat. Including cheaper, lower quality goods, the total realized in the sale was $1,179,000."The reaction to the SLDC production by diamond traders and polishers who viewed he goods during the tender was extremely positive. The colour and quality of the gem parcels was much appreciated and diamantaires were pleased to see Sierra Leone diamonds from an official source again. We are looking forward to helping SLDC develop a successful long term marketing strategy through our office in Antwerp particularly with the medium to long term fundamentals for the diamond market being excellent with no over supply anticipated in the next 10 years,” says Richard Wake-Walker of WWW International Diamond Consultants who arranged the tender in Antwerp on behalf of SLDC.
