He was warmly welcomed with a standing ovation, as his presence was recognized. His wife Mrs. Eunice Conteh, family members and friends accompanied him to the dance.
In addressing the audience, Palo stated that he would restructure the Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF). He seems to have a clear understanding, focus and determination with respect to his mandate and challenges.
He expressed determination to ensure that, trust and confidence within the military and among the public will be maintained.
According to the Presidential Transition Team report, the MoD is presently confronted with the challenges that are critical in enabling the ministry to execute its mandate that includes formulating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating strategic defense policies for the RSLAF.
If effective, they would be implemented in accordance with the principles of democratic governance. Palo promised to work diligently in confronting these challenges.
