Bank of Sierra Leone's governor, deputy formally bow out
Freetown, Sierra Leone - Sierra Leone's Central Bank Governor James D. Rogers and Deputy Mohamed Fofanah officially bowed out of office Thursday, as a result of pressure from the presidency.
Observers said the decision to force out the duo was aimed at preparing the grounds for the newly-appointed Finance and Development Minister to introduce his new economic policy.
Central Bank sources said Rogers and Fofanah were seen as "promoters of politics" within the Bank of Sierra Leone.
President Ernest Koroma had made several public statements suggesting that public officials should stay out of politics to ensure state institutions function with neutrality in promoting state programmes
