River Diamonds starts drilling at Panguma concession

LONDON (AFX) - River Diamonds PLC said it has started its diamond drilling programme at the Pandubo Kimberlite Blow, the first target to be drilled at the Panguma Concession in Sierra Leone.

The project is a joint venture with African Precious Minerals.

In a statement, the company said it has discovered a new dyke of unknown length, the Nboinayuihun ('Nboin') Dyke. Sampling has already yielded diamonds.

The first sample resulted in the recovery of 1.81 carats of diamonds, consisting of 10 stones, from 2.56 tonnes of kimberlite. The largest diamond recovered was a 0.59 carat stone.

On Talama, the companys aid it has recovered about 0.96 carats of diamonds, consisting of 11 stones. The largest diamond recovered was a 0.22 carat stone.

River Diamonds has recovered 6.715 carats of diamonds from the sampling of 12.510 tonnes along the Talama and Nboin Dykes to date, it added.
