West African Diamonds expands in Sierra Leone

West African Diamonds, the AIM listed diamonds and precious metals explorer and developer, has acquired new assets in Sierra Leone which have materially increased its resource base and will accelerate its expanding production portfolio.
The assets were purchased from Fastrack Services Ltd for a 7% stake in the company, and include the 1.5m tonne Plant 6 undersize tailings resource and the 1.2m tonne Plant 6 oversize tailings resource. The production assets include a crane, front-end loader, trucks and a fuel tanker.
In addition, Hennie Wessels has joined the company as chief operating officer (COO). Wessels has been directly involved as technical director and shareholder in project start-ups and on-site operations management of diamond mining operations in South Africa, Angola, Ivory Coast, Guinea and Sierra Leone for the past seventeen years.
