Trade Ministry Launches Website in Sierra Leone

Ministry Trade Web SiteThe Ministry of Trade and Industry has officially launched their website at a colourful ceremony in Freetown held at the prestigious Old Skol Night Club at Hill Station.

During the launching the minister of trade Dr. Kadi Sesay said with the website will complement the removal of administrative barriers to investment whose objective is to communicate to locals and foreigners about the ministry’s policies on trade, the private sector business, other ministries and departments in the productive sectors of the country’s economy.

For investors wanting to do business in the country can check through the website in order to start productive activities. The website will serve as an interactive portal where questions and answers about the ministry will be answered. The website’s address can be found on www.mtisl.org.

She disclosed that this project has made vital improvements in the promotion of the private sector, such as the Sierra Leone Business Forum, the Streamlining of the business registration process through a 2007 Business Registration Act which has produced a new simplified registration process that is cheaper and quicker for investors. Minister Kadi Sesay commended DFID and FIAS for supporting the project and SBTS, the company that develop the website for the ministry.

The website is regarded as one of the best in the country. Earlier in his opening remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prof. Septimus Kaikai said the new website will provide foreign investors with information about Sierra Leone’s investment opportunities and policies in order to be attracted and motivated to invest in Sierra Leone.
