Friends of the Earth' Discusses Global Warming

Friends of the Earth Sierra Leone Saturday ended a one-day clinic on global warming and climate change.

The seminar, held at the organisation's head office on Jones Street in Freetown, aimed at addressing the issues of global warming and climate change in the country the world over.

Executive Director of Friends of the Earth, Olatunde Johnson stated that issues of global warming and climate change have become a major concern in the world, adding that the clinic will discuss ways to fight climate change and global warming in the country and the world at large.

He noted that global warming occurs when the climate of a country changes and pointed out that cutting down of trees is another problem that causes climate change. Johnson called on every citizens of the country to come on board and work assiduously to fight climate change and global warming.

Projects Officer, Arthur Williams stated that there is no drainage system in the country and added that if the problems of climate change were to be solved, government must put more effort in pursuing environmental issues in the country.

"If we are to succeed in our drive to fight these problems, the cooperation of the public is needed," he said, adding that over-crowding is another problem of climate change.
