Chinese Government to Construct 100 Hospitals
The President Alhaji Dr Ahmed Tejan Kabbah has said in Kenema that the Chinese government has consented to construct one hundred referral hospitals in various parts of the country free of cost.
The president said Sierra Leone and China has good cordial relation for over 40 years. He notes that this diplomatic tie with China has benefited the people of Sierra Leone in many areas. President Kabbah made these remarks during the official commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Goma Hydro Power station in the Dodo chiefdom, Kenema district. He commended the NPA/Bo Kenema Power services (BKPS) team and the Chinese technicians for completing the rehabilitation work of the hydro in record time.
President Kabbah praised the government and people of China for their support for the development of Sierra Leone over the years. He noted that the people of Sierra Leone will soon be benefiting from the Chinese gesture following the agreement which he said has been reached between the government of China and Sierra Leone to construct one hundred referral hospitals free of cost.
With the commissioning of BKPS the president said “Bo and Kenema are now fit for any industrial investment because of abundance of electricity supplies in the two cities”.
The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Cheng Wenju congratulated the people of Sierra Leone especially those in the eastern city for having seen the completion of yet another development project in the country. The Minister of Energy and Power Mr Lloyd During said he was pleased with the timely completion of the hydro project. He commended the Sierra Leone Ambassador to China H.E Sahr Johnny for spearheading the project to finishing.
Both Paramount chiefs of Dodo and Simbaru chiefdoms PC Foday Faba Kpakra and PC Madam Mamie Gamanga commended and thanked the Chinese and the government for undertaking the project in their chiefdoms. The ceremony was chaired by the Board Chairman of BKPS, Chief Brima Kargbo.
