Drilling update at Baomahun Gold Project, Sierra Leone
Highlights:
- Fold hinge area at Baomahun yields high grade intercepts
- Drill hole DDH103 intersects 22 metres grading 11.53g/t Au, including 5m@ 25g/t Au
- Data compilation for an interim resource update underway
- Second core rig commissioned on 16th April
- Drilling rate with second rig to increase to between 300 and 400 metres daily
Cluff Gold today announces further encouraging drilling results from the Baomahun Gold Project ('Baomahun') in Sierra Leone, where more than a quarter of the planned 30,000 metres of core drilling has been completed. The total programme will consist of 15,000 metres of infill drilling and 15,000 metres of new exploration drilling.
The infill drilling has been designed to produce a 25 metre spaced grid on the Eastern, Central and Western Zones and the focus so far has been on the southern area of the Central Zone and an area around the eastern limits of the interpreted fold, between the Central and Eastern Zones. Other drilling has in-filled between the existing inferred resource drilling on the Central Zone.
The exploration drilling is focussed on the identification of possible extensions to the Western Zone and on the fold-hinge area between the Central and Eastern Zones. Assay results from several holes drilled in the new fold-hinge area are being received. The fold-hinge area will be included in the interim resource update currently underway.
The second core rig has now been commissioned and Cluff Gold therefore expects drilling to increase from this week to a rate of between 300 and 400 metres daily.
The Company also announced recently that it has requested bids from various consultants to undertake a pre-feasibility study on Baomahun and the decision on an appointment will be made before the end of April. The study will look at the various mine development options and issues raised in the study would be addressed in a full feasibility study planned for 2008. The pre-feasibility study is planned to be completed in the 4th quarter of 2007.
Mr. Douglas Chikohora, Technical Director of Cluff Gold plc comments, “We are delighted with the latest assay results, particularly from the new fold-hinge zone. The high grade intersections further support our belief that Baomahun has significant potential to evolve into a substantial gold deposit with further exploration and drilling.”
