Antwerp: Sierra Leone Diamond Co. Sale Nets $4.5M

The Sierra Leone Diamond Company sold some 10,000 carats of diamonds in Antwerp for 16 percent more per carat than earlier estimates. In March the government of Sierra Leone valued the planned sale at $380 per carat, but the sale came in at $441 per carat or $4.46 million.

Overseas Diamonds NV of Antwerp conducted the sale. Thirteen diamonds were larger than 10.8 carats, the largest of which was 45.25 carats and sold for $588,250.
