World Bank Donates USD 1 Million Drugs

World Bank Friday donated essential drugs valued at USD 1million to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.

The ceremony took place at Datsun garage warehouse, Kissy.

Health and Sanitation Minister, Abator Thomas who received the drugs on behalf of her Ministry, informed the gathering that the availability of quality and affordable drugs is a prerequisite to the country's health care delivery system.

"This is definitely another manifestation of the commitment of World Bank to assist in improving the health status of Sierra Leoneans for which the government, Ministry and the people of Sierra Leone are extremely grateful," she said.

Minister Thomas assured World Bank representatives that the drugs would be utilized for their intended purposes.

Ministry of Health's Public Relations Officer, Abass Kamara told journalists that the drugs were supplied by International Dispensary Association (IDA) based in Holland.

The drugs would be distributed by SAFARCOM General Services.
