Vice President of Liberia arrives in Sierra Leone with high level delegation

The Vice President of Liberia, Honourable Joseph Nyumah Boakai arrived in Freetown on Friday the 12th at the head of a high level delegation from the Executive Mansion in Liberia.

The delegation which included the Liberian Minister of Gender Affairs was there to attend the Pink Charity's Breast Cancer Fundraising ball. Of which H.E. President of Liberia, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is the Honorary Lifetime Patron.

Honourable Joseph Nyumah Boakai (pictured above) was born on November 30, 1944 and is a member of the ruling Unity Party.

The son of illiterates, Boakai is a graduate of the College of West Africa, the University of Liberia, and Kansas State University, which he attended on a USAID grant. From 1983 to 1985, he served as the Liberian Minister of Agriculture under the late President Samuel Doe.

Boakai, who has strong links to Eastern Sierra Leone, is a religious Christian, and is a Deacon of the Effort Baptist Church. He is married to Kartumu Cooper and they have three sons.
