Mano River Union Women call on Kabbah, Ellen to intervene in Guinea

Following the recent civil disobedience in the neighboring Guinean capital Conakry, the Mano River Women’s Peace Network (MARWOPNET) has appealed to President Alhaji Dr. Ahmed Tejan Kabbah of Sierra Leone and his counterpart president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia to use all diplomatic means and bring both the Labour Union and the Guinean government to a negotiating table and resolve the problem that country.

The called came as a result of the escalating violence situation in Guinea continues.
MARWOPNET thus implored Economic Community of West African States and other regional leaders in the continent to play a proactive role in resolving the ongoing impasse in Guinea.

MARWOPNET said that the increasing hardship amongst the general Guinean populace is causing grave anxiety across the Mano River Union countries and the world over.

However Guineans fleeing the unrest are reported to have stormed the eastern capital town of Kenema for safe refugee.
